The site was part of an earlier botanical garden and retains many mature trees of the cassia and mango families. The existing building was designed in early 1950’s and is the residence of the Deputy High Commis - sioner. The project was in two stages with two varying approaches. The rear residential area is designed with a partly private open garden for the family and large banquet lawns for formal entertainment. The chancery building at the front is a modern contemporary design executed in 2003–2005. In this area the landscape is a blend of modern forms with traditional materials. The landscape is designed around a flow of movement with granite boulders on one side of the entry path and finished granite cubes on the other, providing sharp contrast.
