Hyatt Regency Kolkata is on a six acre site with a large frontage, almost fifty meters, to the portico. The hotel has a modern colonial appeal and thus the landscape principle was to carry the same theme of symmetry and balance in the front by creating a linear water cascade with royal palms in stepped planters on both sides. The rear area has two parts. The first part, like an extension of the coffee shop, continues the rhythm and symmetry of the building. The second part, with the swimming pool and tropical foliage, is designed as a more informal space with free flowing lines. Individual theme gardens have been created for the separate activity areas such as the Indian restaurant, ballroom, fun-pub and the health club.
